About Lee Millard

Hi.  My name is Lee Millard, and I'm the founder of HAIRJUNKIE.COM.  I’m also a very happy hair restoration patient.  I've been involved in the hair restoration industry for more than 17 years as a patient, model, spokesperson and hair loss coUNSELOR. If you're a man or woman experiencing 'hair loss' or 'thinning hair', I understand the psychological torment you're going through.  I remember the emotional pain I felt when I was losing my hair.  I was self-conscious about it all of the time.  It made me look older and feel older.  It crushed my self-esteem.

Making the decision to have my hair restored is one of the best things I’ve ever done.  It looks totally natural, and the best thing about it? ' IT'S MY HAIR'.  It was a simple procedure (in and out the same day), and it made a remarkable change to my appearance, and the way I feel about myself.

There are a lot of guys out there with shaved heads.  That's great if they like that  look.  It's just not the look for me.  I didn't want to go bald, and ... my head didn't look good shaved.  So, I decided to schedule a hair restoration procedure.  Now my hair looks like it did 20 years ago.  It's fuller, it makes me look younger, and ... the transplanted hair will never fall out!

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to help men and women of all ages become emotionally transformed.  Hair loss hurts, but you can fix it!  There are many options available including medical therapy (prescription medications) and FDA approved devices like the 'Laser Comb'.  If you have extreme thinning, you might want to consider surgical hair restoration.
Hair loss can lead to stress, anxiety and low self-esteem.  Therefore, it's important to get a diagnosis from a hair loss doctor before the problem gets worse.  Hair loss is 'progressive' so the sooner you see a doctor (like anything else) the sooner you'll fix the problem.

My Background

Prior to my work in the hair restoration industry, I was a school teacher, wrestling coach, track coach and weight-training coach. I was a gym owner, bodybuilding competitor, model, and contest promoter. I worked in radio, television, and movies. I am also a victim of genetic hair loss.

Lee as Spider-ManI want you to know my story, and I want to hear your story. If you want honest, unbiased information about hair loss, I can help you. I’ll tell you everything you need to know. I’ll tell you about medical therapies, non-surgical and surgical options. Then you can make an educated decision on what to do. You’ll have the facts. You’ll have answers to all your questions. You will deal directly with me. I will be your personal consultant and walk you through every single step of the process.

My story begins in Reading, PA, where I taught 9th Grade American History from 1976-1980. I was also a wrestling, track and weight-training coach. I worked as Spider-Man on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ in 1979, and later performed as the webbed wonder in a Las Vegas Show called, “THE HEAT IS ON”

Because of my love for sports and bodybuilding, I exited the teaching profession and opened Millard’s Fitness Center in Reading, PA. in 1980. I also began promoting and competing in bodybuilding shows.

By age 27, I noticed I was losing my hair. I knew what was happening, but kept it to myself. I didn’t want anyone to think it bothered me. I was in denial about my condition.

Lee as Spider-ManIn 1985, I won Mr. Las Vegas. I was in the best shape of my life, BUT I was still losing my hair! I knew what was coming down the road. I was destined to be bald like my Grandpa.

As my hair continued to disappear, I had more surgeries to keep up with the loss. I was chasing my tail. I wondered if it was ever going to stop. There was no Propecia at that time, and I wasn’t educated enough to take a chance on Rogaine. My hair was falling out as fast as I was putting it in, and I didn’t like what I was seeing. I didn’t want to be a BALD GUY!

I lucked out in the 80’s. BIG HAIR was in, so I grew it long and camouflaged my scalp.

Despite my hair loss, I was having the time of my life. I was modeling, doing TV commercials, working the fights, doing bit parts in movies and meeting a lot of great people. Nothing big, but it was a blast! The problem: I was still losing my hair. It was tough to deal with. I didn’t talk about it, but it bothered me.

In 1990 I began promoting Bodybuilding & Fitness Competitions in Vegas with my partner Steve Karr. Our shows included the NPC LAS VEGAS CLASSIC, WORLD GYM CLASSIC, IRONMAN NATURAL, and NEVADA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

In 1993, my hair loss was bothering me so much that I decided to have my first hair restoration procedure. Micro and mini-graft surgeries were very popular at that time. The price was $28 per graft (today the average cost is $4 -$5 per graft), and doctors would only do 200-300 grafts per session. A 200 graft case cost $5600 in 1993!! Very small sessions and they didn’t make a significant change. Nonetheless, it was better than nothing. Today the surgical process is fine-tuned, and it's affordable for almost anyone.  Today you can get over 1000 grafts for the same price!

In 1994 I was hired as the Promotions Director for New Country 95.5 KWNR. I thoroughly enjoyed working in country music. Country music stars and the country music fans are really down to earth. I enjoyed my job, but my hair loss continued. A big smile hides a lot of pain. No one knew how much my hair loss bothered me.

I’m not a doctor. I’m a hair loss expert with more than 15 years in the hair restoration industry. I’ve worked with some of the best doctors in the world providing men & women with the information they’ve needed about hair loss. I’ve helped them decide if they need medical therapy, a non-surgical solution, a surgical solution or a combination of these for their hair loss.

Lee as MusclegramThe most frustrating part of my 15 year hair loss journey was GETTING ALL THE FACTS I NEEDED so I could make the right decision about what to do. It’s very frustrating when you don’t know WHO to talk to, or WHAT QUESTIONS to ask.

I was losing my hair, and I wanted to know how to fix the problem. I wanted to fix it right away. I wanted to fix it for good.

When I visited a hair transplantation doctor, I was told I needed a hair transplant. When I visited a non-surgical hair restoration company I was told I needed a "strand by strand custom made hairpiece". When I called those companies with the infomercials on TV, they promised me my hair back by rubbing liquid on my scalp or my money back.

I understand and appreciate that people are in business and need to make a profit, but I was confused about my choices. Who could I trust?
I wanted what was best for me. I needed honest answers from well educated people.

I started HairJunkie.com so YOU WILL GET THE ANSWERS YOU WANT and YOU WILL KNOW YOUR OPTIONS. I’m giving YOU the opportunity to tap into my experience.
